Godcasts
There’s a new website called Godcast1000.com, which was launched recently. Not only do the people behind this website want to put Jesus Christ in people’s hearts, they also want to put Him in people’s iPods. Interested parties may download everything from Christian sermons to videos, from religious music to Bible study lessons. The site proclaims that is has over 500 digital audio files available for downloading.

Welcome to religion in the 21st century.

Just imagine it. These days you can actually listen to the weekly Catholic sermon or listen to religious choir music without having to attend church. Why, you can actually do all that in the privacy of your own home thanks to your iPod and to this website.

There’s a so-called "Hardcore Christianity" program featuring a radical-looking preacher (he’s in dark sunglasses and a baseball cap worn backwards) preaches the word of the Lord. There's also "Jesus Geek," which features the thoughts and teachings of a Christian father who's into home schooling. There are also dozens more of different Christian content from Catholic, Episcopal, Lutheran and nondenominational Christian churches across the United States.

The site also links to other religious websites such as Christian.com and preachtheword.com, among others.

Many outspoken religions leaders are now hailing Godcast1000.com as a tremendous boost to spreading the word of God. Among the most ardent supporters of Godcast1000.com are Lee Raney, president of Christian.com, a web portal that links to the website and Rev. Shaun Olsen of the Family Worship Center in McKinney, Texas. There are also several groups of Catholic priests and lay ministers who actively support the website.

Among the big advantages of Godcasts.com is that hundreds of missionaries doing God’s work abroad have a chance to listed to services back in the United States, as in the case of Rev. Olsen’s Family Worship Center. Another is that the site keeps archives of truly meaningful sermons from various sources that visitors can select and listen to, such as the sermons of Pastor David Legge who is based in Northern Ireland but whose sermons are one of the most downloaded in the United States. Also, the site has gained such a following that some priests actually use it to deliver their sermons on Sundays and simply add and respond to what is stated there.
